We are very excited to tell you about a lovely project we have been working on with the lovely people over at 10:10
10:10 are all about cutting carbon consumtion by 10% in 2010
Together with their designers they asked us to produce a bookmark, to be distributed in bookshops during the HAY LITERARY FESTIVAL.
You can view the bookmark we jointly created HERE
The Festival runs from Thursday 27 May to Sunday 6 June 2010.
You can buy tickets and get further information HERE

Well of course we were chuffed to bits to be asked to work on such a worthwhile cause, and loved the idea of using the laser-cutting to get folks to be be aware of cutting their carbon consumption. As it says on the bookmark: "Cutting 10% can be a beautiful thing"
Our sentiments exactly!! We look forward to working with 10:10 again in the future.
"10:10 is an ambitious project to unite every sector of society behind one simple idea: we all commit to reduce our emissions by 10% in 2010, then work together to make it happen".You can read more about them, and the positive work they are doing here: HERE

The Vintage Wedding Dress Company

If I was getting married The Vintage Wedding Dress Company is the first place I would head to to get the dress of my dreams.

Owner and founder Charlie Brear has brought together her years of experience in fashion to create this fantastic collection at their London showroom. Charlie has worked alongside leading fashion designers, styling and producing accessories for Matthew Williamson, selling under her own name at Matches, styling models, bands and celebrities.... so you know you are going to be in the most capable of hands! As principal buyer for the company, Charlie sources dresses from London, Paris and across the world; her talent for discovering exquisite pieces is second to none.

"I wanted to take the trepidation and hard work out of finding a unique dress to get married in," says Charlie.

"It is so hard when searching for a vintage dress to know whether you can restore something to its former glory. I buy individual pieces that I love and as a company we provide a service that does just that."

The Vintage Wedding Dress Company holds a rare and diverse selection of gorgeous gowns and accessories from the Victorian era right through to the early 1970s, which are all beautifully cleaned and restored and can be tailored for you to a couture finish.

View the stunning VINTAGE COLLECTION

If you want a vintage look but would like a dress that has not been worn before then the DECADES COLLECTION is perfect for you. It comprises six new vintage-inspired dresses, one from each era from the 1920s through to the 1970s.

"A beautiful capsule collection of gowns each elegantly designed using the details and accents of decades gone by".

The team at The Vintage Wedding Dress Company all come from a fashion background and a private appointment service gives customers the benefit of a professional eye which would normally be reserved for a celebrity clientele. They have an in house fitting service to do any alterations you need, so you know your vintage item will be in the best of hands.

The website and the showroom beautifully curated, we love the section BRIDES showing past brides looking glorious in their vintage gowns, edwardian lace, slinky satins and incedibly beautiful backless numbers, even layering a few delicate, lacy pieces together.

Totally divine! I wouldn't look anywhere else!

Bouquets & Buttonholes - Nicolette Camille

Oh my word...do we love this lady! I came across the stunning floristry designer Nicolette Camille and had to share her beautiful arrangements with you. Nicolette lives in Brooklyn, NYC and produces the most stunning, natural and sophisticated bouquets. Take a look at her website here: www.nicolettecamille.com Here are a few of her beautiful floral combinations to inspire you. We love the wild, unfussy style, perfect for summer weddings, glorious flowers arranged in old glass bottles, jam jars, vintage vases. Be warned..this kind of arranging looks far easier than it is. To create such natural arrangements that look this good is a total artform! If you would like to contact Nicolette you can email her: nicolettecamille@gmail.com

Adding daisies to buttonholes gives a quirky, relaxed feel... and a lovely fresh splash of colour.

We love the delicate touches of pastel pink and pale green, in this overall white bouquet.

Snowberries look fantastic when they are in season.

Gorgeous little flashes of blue.

Jam jars on your wedding table look stunning, understated and effortlessly casual. Our favourite way to dress your table..perfect for a summer garden wedding!

Beautiful, papery, pink peonies.
Also check out her Flower School blogsite here.
How I wish I lived in New York and could join one of these fantastic courses.
"We'll be hauling buckets and buckets of peonies into the studio come the end of May - join us for an evening to learn about all the varieties and ways to employ this floral queen in bouquets and arrangements for the table. Alongside a host of other late spring material such as thistles, delphiniums, columbine (hopefully! - one of our favorite late spring flowers), green blueberry, nigella, ornamental oregano, garden roses, and more. Each student will make an arrangement to take home in a silver julep-cup style vase."

How good does that sound!
Truly Inspirational

Here are a few results from previous courses they have run. Enjoy!!

Such delicate colour combinations.

We love the apricot with the silver grey foliage

Adding succulents into the bouquets looks stunning.

Going Green....spring fresh colour themes.

The colour of the moment seems to be green! We do a gorgeous Pistachio Gren inlay, very soft and delicate for a spring fresh feel. Looks beautiful with our crisp white textured card. Try mixing little highlights of pink with pale greens for a soft and delicate colour theme. the corsgae above is from Mathew Dickinson Flowers and the cake is from Anna Tyler Cakes. Perfect colour match to our invites!

We are loving the fact there are so many stuning flowers around..these ranunculus are just beautiful in bouquets and look gorgeous mixed with white, paperie peonies (with their lovely dark centres), hellebores, white hydrangeas and other unusual spring flowers...shades of green and white. Perfect!
