Where do we get our inspiration from?

This is a question we're regularly asked!

As we look forward to launching our new website we are also looking ahead to new season designs & ideas. We love to spend a day being inspired & this month we took a trip to Newark Antiques Fair.

Newark is just incredible! It's amazing what a day browsing for new ideas can do to ignite your imagination! The fair is one of Britain's best for anyone interested in anything antique, vintage or shabby chic!

Definitely worth a visit. It's just huge (covering some 100 acres with around 4,000 stalls!) so no matter what you love we're sure you'll find something to buy (we did!)

Newark is just one of the fairs organised by the iacf (International Antiques & Collectors Fairs!) You can see where & when other fairs are being held this year over at their website.

Here comes the sun.....

Here comes the sun…little darling!!

The sun is shining at last, and as we enter Spring and the flowers are just starting to bud and bloom, what better time to showcase our new colour for the Summer.

We are loving the FRESH YELLOW HUES that are coming through. They compliment the spring flowers beautifully – think daffodils, narcissus, crocus and snowdrops for February and March weddings…with a fresh white palette and a pop of yellow! For summer weddings we love the idea of daisys…old jamjars filled with huge bunches of freshly picked daisies of all sizes. Simple, timeless and perfect!

These would look wonderful with our NEW LASER-CUT BUNTING, old tressle tables and mismatched chairs, for a summer garden wedding. We also love the idea of using vintage white embroidered table linens to create a lovely unfussy style!

We love the vintage linen table cloths, and little twists of lemon in the champagne glasses to pick up the colour theme!

Cosmetic & Blush

We are just loving all the beautiful Blush & Cosmetic tones that are around at the moment.

Here are a few ideas to inspire you....these work really well for a vintage feel. Soft and delicate cosmetic hues from minks, and soft nudes, apricots and blush pinks.

Black & White

Your really can't go wrong with the chic colour combination of Black & White. Classic and contemporary, it looks modern and fresh yet timeless. There are so many ways you can play with this colour theme. We have noticed alot of black dresses popping up too, we are loving the idea of having bridesmaids in black...a lovely contrast to the brides white dress, and softened with crisp white flowers and green foliage or some really bright bouquets to contrast with the monochrome. Beautiful! See some lovely ideas here.

We love the black butterflies...and you could re-create this yourself very easily!

Sprinkle some sparky black confetti on your tables to make them shimmer (available from www. confetti.com) , or we have jet black diamantes to decorate your stationery with! CONTACT US for more details.

Our favourite flowers for a black and white theme are the beautiful Anemones..with there papery white petals and velvet black centres, they look stunning and give a beautiful vintage feel. We found these lovely images over at www.onefinedayevents.com

Bouquets & Buttonholes - Nicolette Camille

Oh my word...do we love this lady! I came across the stunning floristry designer Nicolette Camille and had to share her beautiful arrangements with you. Nicolette lives in Brooklyn, NYC and produces the most stunning, natural and sophisticated bouquets. We love the wild, unfussy style, perfect for summer weddings, glorious flowers arranged in old glass bottles, jam jars, vintage vases. Be warned..this kind of arranging looks far easier than it is. Adding daisies to buttonholes gives a quirky, relaxed feel... and a lovely fresh splash of colour.

We love the delicate touches of pastel pink and pale green, in this overall white bouquet.

How I wish I lived in New York and could join one of these fantastic courses.
"We'll be hauling buckets and buckets of peonies into the studio come the end of May - join us for an evening to learn about all the varieties and ways to employ this floral queen in bouquets and arrangements for the table. Alongside a host of other late spring material such as thistles, delphiniums, columbine (hopefully! - one of our favorite late spring flowers), green blueberry, nigella, ornamental oregano, garden roses, and more. Each student will make an arrangement to take home in a silver julep-cup style vase."
